I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double BA in Communications and Political Science. I earned a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Science in Gerontology at the University of Southern California at Los Angeles. I am a lover of the classics, a life-long writer of prose, and have taken courses in creative writing. My professional writing includes monthly articles in an association magazine, circulation 500,000; Congressional testimony for a Washington DC based association; survey development for Fortune 500 companies; policy manuals for a statewide nonprofit; a national report utilized by state corrections facilities; and speeches delivered personally at national, regional, and state conferences. One of my favorite things is reading student works. I have been privy to countless college essays and applications, where I am known to provide honest feedback without changing the integrity of the work.
I am fortunate to have been mentored throughout my career by English Professors and English Professor want-a-be’s. Their criticism was tough but always appreciated. I am an avid traveler, a former Tanzanian ex-pat, and an adventurer at heart. I have called both the East Coast and the West Coast my home and embrace change. Having wandered across five continents and all but a handful of US territories, I bring a unique approach to my writing. I take my inspiration from all that life has taught me and guide others to find their inspiration.
